Struggling to open up a jar while camp cooking is not conducive to relaxing in your campsite’s beautiful surroundings! We discovered a simple gadget that opens jars with a twist of the wrist while not taking up valuable space in the camper.
The opener takes up next to no space, disappearing underneath your cabinet, sitting there ready to open a tight lid. No fumbling for a pair of Channellock pliers or other types of jar opening tools, or hurting your hands working to twist open a jar of pickles. I even used it to gently twist out a wine cork that was pushed in after opening the bottle.
There are no moving parts and the installation is done by simply using the peel-and-stick adhesive, and then screwing the 3 screws into the underside of your overhead cabinet, or anyplace deemed easy to reach. The teeth that grip the jar lid are sharp, so keep out of the reach of young children, though it is easy enough for a child to use.
Any size jar lid will fit with no parts to adjust. Simply slide the lid into the opener until you feel a secure grip, twist and voila, your jar is open.
I spoke with the makers of this handy gizmo and was happy to learn the EZ Off is made in the U.S.A. by a small mom and pop type business. The “V” shaped opening concept has been around for 60 years, with EZ Off improving the design. Here is a fun link to one of the vintage predecessors.
